A two-storey home at South Nanango partially collapsed while firefighters were battling the blaze on Saturday night.
Fire crews were called to the property, on Izzards Road, just before 5:30pm.
A QFES spokesperson said seven urban trucks as well as rural brigades attended the incident.
Firefighters could see black smoke pouring from the building as they approached, and found the structure well ablaze when they arrived.
At one point, flames were coming from the roof.
The firefighters determined there were no occupants inside, but sadly, two dogs were missing.
Just before 6:30pm, part of the building collapsed while firefighters were still working to extinguish the last of the flames.
Fire crews remained at the property until 2:55am, dampening down and working to make the area safe.
Firefighters returned at 5:00am on Sunday to check for hot spots but found the area clear.
The spokesperson said the cause of the fire had been deemed accidental.
It is believed to have been started by a heater.
[UPDATED}
We heard an explosion around the time of the fire. I’m guessing the LPG gas tanks exploded. Also, a fire started at exactly the same time about 270 metres away from the blast. I suppose that was caused by parts of the gas tanks. Just lucky it didn’t land on a house.
