Nanango Theatre Company will be hold its second “BARDfest: A Night Celebrating Poetry” on Saturday night (June 1).
“Our first BARDfest was nearly booked out and the reviews and audience response were fantastic,” spokesperson Jon Fearnley said.
“I felt it was so culturally rich and interesting that I almost preferred it to live theatre. Our four presenters were diverse in their presentations and the content was both a mix of personal work and experiences and their favourite pieces from their preferred genre.”
Jon said there was a great program planned for Saturday night.
“Everyone knows Bruce Webb as a colourful raconteur. His passion for reciting bush poetry has made him a popular presenter around the South Burnett,” Jon said.
“One of our theatre’s Life Members, Jocelyn Richardson, has an interesting story of her own journey writing poetry.
“Frank Hodgkinson will present a compilation of works by contemporary English poet Brian Bilston who has been prolific in showing his talent and sense of humour over the last few years, especially during the COVID lockdown times in Britain.
“And Ian Fraser has stepped up to present an encore performance of his favourite Australian poetry from the 20th century. He is also going to include some of his own works, a highlight of his first BARDfest presentation.”
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concession holders, which includes a light supper, and can be booked online
