South Burnett Regional Council will begin trialling new colour-coded garbage collection trucks in June.

The trucks are being supplied by JJ Richards And Sons which plans to put the new fleet into full operation from July 1.

The new trucks are colour-coded to help residents distinguish between general waste (red) and recyclables (yellow), and are fitted with monitoring and reporting technologies that help monitor bins and waste streams collected on the kerbside.

Councillors inspected two of the new trucks last week.

JJ’s will be deploying some of the trucks prior to July 1 for testing to ensure their systems will be ready to go by their contract’s commencement date.

Collection days are planned to remain the same across the region however if any change affected residents will be notified in advance.

A Council spokesperson said residents should place bins out on the kerbside before 6:00am on their collection day or the night before.

More information about what waste can be accepted in Council’s general and recycling bins can be found by downloading Council’s Recyclopedia App, which is available for Android and iPhones.
