South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff has been elected chair of the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Roads and Transport Group.
The group is made up of representatives from the North Burnett, South Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie, Bundaberg and Fraser Coast councils.
Representatives met in Maryborough on Thursday for the first time since the Local Government elections in March.
Fraser Coast councillor Denis Chapman was elected deputy chair.
Mayor Duff thanked the group for their endorsement and said she was honoured to receive the support of her fellow mayors and councillors.
Regional Roads and Transport Groups consist of councillors and a Department of Transport and Main Roads District/Regional Director.
Each group is also supported by a technical committee.
They work collaborative to regionally plan and prioritise investment on road and transport infrastructure, including allocating funding to the highest priority projects and identifying opportunities for financial efficiencies.
