A bulk landscaping supplies business at 100 River Road in Kingaroy has “formalised” its relationship with the South Burnett Regional Council.
At April’s General Meeting, councillors were told the site had begun to be used in 2011 to distribute landscaping supplies to local customers from a small shed located on the property.
The business had steadily expanded over the years to cover two hectares of the large block, which is crossed by a flood-prone creek at its northern end.
The site’s owners, Johnson Management (Aust) Pty Ltd, now wanted to formalise the upgrades by gaining a Development Approval for the site.
The approval would include construction of an expanded 296sq m shed, and the provision of 21 car parks on the site, including two disability spaces.
Council officers said they had examined the proposal in detail and were satisfied not only that the development was an appropriate use of the land, but also that all work areas on the site were located outside the existing flood hazard zone.
On this basis, they recommended councillors approve the project subject to conditions outlined in the approval.
The motion to do so was moved by Cr Danita Potter, seconded by Cr Ros Heit and carried unanimously.
