  1. Thanks a whole heap for keeping us informed as the count plays out. It saved me a lot of work finding out the results (all on one page, no clicking around).

What awaits now when counting is finished is results from each polling booth in this council area. That will be interesting for the voters and probably beneficial for the candidates also.

Thanks again! Your site for me is a daily early “go to” to get the local info.

  2. How about some information why Kathy Duff still has not been confirmed for winning the Mayor position? Her lead in the election seems to be obvious.

    • We have been told they are awaiting the final postal votes. Declaration is expected Tuesday or Wednesday.

  3. So Australia Post is the culprit for the long wait? How come that all other Councils did not have to wait until all postal votes had been received and counted?

  4. It’s not necessarily Australia Post’s fault. Electors may not have posted their vote until well after election day… (It may not be the right thing to do, but some people do it.)

In terms of other councils – it would depend how many people did postal voting and the margin of their lead over other candidates. North Burnett was a completely postal ballot election, and they are still waiting on 1500 votes to come back (which is 20% of their registered electors).

South Burnett Mayoral Vote – Total registered voters is 25,479. But only 21,268 votes counted so far. Yes Kathy has a big lead over other candidates, but given the 4000 votes still to come, it could change the result (however unlikely that is). ECQ can’t declare a winner until it’s definite.
