SunPork Group CEO Robert Van Barneveld will be the guest speaker at a networking lunch to be hosted by the Rural Press Club of Queensland at Toowoomba Showgrounds on April 18.
The lunch will coincide with the opening of the annual Toowoomba Royal Show.
The SunPork group of companies is Australia’s largest pork producer and its portfolio includes the Swickers abattoir in Kingaroy, farms and food businesses.
Prof Van Barneveld will be discussing the science behind Australia’s largest fully integrated pork company.
He will be joined at the lunch by Queensland Farmers’ Federation CEO Jo Sheppard and Prof John McVeigh, the former State Minister for Agriculture and now executive director of the Institute for Resilient Regions.
A Q&A panel will examine issues of importance to the region’s agricultural sector, including farmer interactions with supermarkets, along with updates on the latest drought resilience research at the University of Southern Queensland.
