A South Burnett P-Plater has been fined $1780 and lost his licence after being caught doing 172km/h on the Bunya Highway.
About 9:50am on March 4, Murgon police intercepted a blue Holden Cruze.
Police will allege the 19-year-old Moondooner teenager driving was travelling at 172km/h in a 100km/h zone.
He was issued with a traffic infringement notice for $1780, lost eight demerit points and his licence will be suspended for six months.
“At that speed it only takes one small thing to go wrong to result in a disaster,” Constable Matthew Burrows said.
“I hope the young man reflects on his decisions during his six-month disqualification period and becomes a safer driver as a result of it.”
