Nanango Race Club has lost its planned May meeting but five other meetings are scheduled for 2024

January 30, 2024

Racing Queensland has stripped Nanango Race Club of its planned May 18 race meeting, although no official reason has been given.

The meeting was to have been a TAB meeting.

In December,  Racing Queensland requested reasons from the club why the meeting should go ahead.

However, despite a submission from the club, the race meeting has been removed from Racing Queensland’s official calendar.

The Racing Queensland website marks the meeting as “abandoned”.

Club president Andrew Green said he was disappointed the event would not be going ahead as at least three local groups would be missing out on fundraising opportunities.

He said it was also likely to be the last opportunity “in the near future” for Nanango to host a TAB meeting as Racing Queensland was shifting to a new model for holding TAB meetings in country areas.

Nanango Race Club’s other 2024 meetings are scheduled to be held on February 10, March 30 (Easter Saturday), August 3, September 7 and December 14.
