The South Burnett Regional Council has released its list of nominees for its 2024 Australia Day Awards.
This year the awards will be recognising the work of 68 nominees across 18 categories, ranging from Citizen Of The Year to Local Achiever awards for all the region’s towns and villages.
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on Sunday, January 21, that will be held at Kumbia Hall between noon and 3:00pm, followed by a free afternoon tea.
Five days later on Australia Day (January 26), the Council will be hosting a citizenship ceremony at the Kingaroy Scout Den in James Street, Kingaroy to welcome 22 new Australian citizens to the region.
The citizenship ceremony will be compered by Acting Mayor Gavin Jones, and it will be held at 9:00am as the centrepiece of a morning of fun activities and games organised by the Kingaroy Bunya District Scouts that will run from 7:00am until noon.
