The Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is calling on South Burnett residents to embrace the spirit of Christmas by shopping locally and championing the diverse businesses that make the region unique.

KCCI president Damien Martoo emphasised the importance of supporting South Burnett businesses, particularly small businesses, in sustaining local jobs.

“When you shop local, you contribute directly to the vibrancy and livelihood of our community,” he said.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and by supporting them, you’re investing in the success and resilience of the South Burnett region.”

Mr Martoo also highlighted the ongoing challenge of staff shortages, urging customers to exercise patience while shopping this year.

“We understand the difficulties that businesses are facing with staff shortages, and we ask our community to be understanding and patient,” he said.

“Plan ahead, if possible, and avoid leaving your shopping until the last minute.”

To accommodate the holiday rush, many businesses in the South Burnett area have extended their trading hours leading up to Christmas, with some opening on Sundays.
