Five young people were injured – one seriously – when a Mitsubishi Pajero rolled on the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia just after midnight on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the incident near Lucas Road at 12:35am.

The driver – a male teenager – was flung through a window of the vehicle when it overturned.

A QAS spokesperson said he suffered significant head, leg and chest injuries and was airlifted from Kingaroy Hospital to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition.

The passengers in the vehicle were also injured and taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition:

  • A girl in her teens with shoulder and head injuries,
  • A boy with hip and shoulder injuries,
  • A girl in her teens with arm injuries, and
  • A boy in his teens with head and shoulder injuries.

The occupants came from Nanango and Kingaroy.

QFES crews removed a back door of the vehicle to help paramedics assist one of the injured passengers.

Police are investigating whether speed was a cause of the incident and whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
