Durong grazier Georgie Somerset AM has been appointed chair of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland).
Mrs Somerset has served on the RFDS Board since 2016 and was appointed deputy chair in November 2021.
The role is Mrs Somerset’s latest key appointment.
She is also general president of AgForce Qld, chair of the Red Earth Foundation South Burnett and a Board member of the ABC, National Farmers Federation and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
She has previously served on the Wide Bay-Burnett Regional Development Australia committee, was president of the Queensland Rural, Regional & Remote Women’s Network and a director of the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority and the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
In October, Mrs Somerset stood for the position as president of the National Farmers Federation but was defeated at the election by Victorian grain grower David Jochinke.
