Toowoomba Regional Council has agreed to continue managing the historic Jondaryan Woolshed, at least for the next three years.

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, councillors resolved that Council’s current direct management model would continue until November 2026.

Cr James O’Shea said Council had been looking at various operating models for the Woolshed but ultimately settled on continuing with direct management on an interim basis.

“Council has been through an extensive process of looking at various operating models,” Cr O’Shea said.

“This three-year extension of Council’s current operating model gives immediate certainty to the Woolshed’s future while Council considers other longer-term management options.

“Right now, Jondaryan Woolshed offers wedding and private event bookings, camping, large-scale community events such as the recent Working Dog Spectacular and Australia Day and is open to bookings for schools and other tour groups to visit.

“The facility is very much open and I want to thank and acknowledge Council’s on-site staff who work in partnership with the Friends of Jondaryan Woolshed and other volunteers to ensure the historic facility is available to visitors.”
