Queensland barrister – and former Roma Town Council CEO – Russell Hood has been appointed president of an expanded Councillor Conduct Tribunal.
Mr Hood has also acted as Crown Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and director of Legal and Operations at the Office of the Queensland Integrity Commissioner.
His four-year term will begin on November 13.
Mr Hood replaces June Anstee whose term ended on October 31.
Nine casual members have also been appointed for a four-year term, from November 1: Danielle Brown, Greg Chemello, Rodney Ferguson, Emma Fogerty, Kylie Goodwin, Rebecca Ogge, Robert Olding, Louise Pyrchidczuk and Grant Wilson.
Dr Brendan Walker-Munro was also reappointed for a four-year term.
They join existing casual Tribunal members Russell Faulkner, Carolyn Ashcroft, Troy Newman and Gabe Bednarek.
The Tribunal’s function includes hearing and deciding complaints of misconduct by councillors as referred by the Office of the Independent Assessor, and to investigate suspected inappropriate conduct of a councillor referred to a local government.
Footnote: Mr Hood is not the Russell Hood who formerly worked as General Manager Infrastructure at the South Burnett Regional Council.
