Acting Mayor Gavin Jones

November 3, 2023

Acting Mayor Cr Gavin Jones has thanked Queensland Fire and Emergency Services for their ongoing efforts during the recent bushfires, but urged residents to stay up-to-date about warnings.

“Crews are working tirelessly on a large number of bushfires across the State, and we are extremely grateful for their commitment and dedication,” Cr Jones said.

“I’d also like to thank everyone else who has assisted and is continuing to assist, including neighbours who are helping each other.

“Ours is a resilient community, and it is during times of hardship that this shines through.”

However, Cr Jones said the fires were a timely reminder to think about how extreme weather could affect lives, so residents should make a plan to stay safe and pack supplies.

Cr Jones also reminded South Burnett residents that a local fire ban is in place until 11:59pm on Monday (November 6).

One Response to "QFES Thanked For Fire Efforts"

  1. I was pleased to read about Deputy Mayor Councillor Gavin Jones’ thanks to Queensland Fire and Emergency Services for their efforts during the recent bush fires. These dedicated people deserve the highest praise for their work in helping to save lives (human and animal) and properties, in the most dangerous and challenging conditions. Ours is a resilient community and at times like this, it is rewarding to see community members extending their help to anyone and everyone who is in dire need.
