Western Downs Regional Council has issued a warning about fake donation pages appearing online allegedly to assist bushfire victims.
A spokesperson said GIVIT’s bushfire appeal was now in operation.
“This is the preferred avenue for donations from the public,” the spokesperson said.
Donations can be made online here
“There has been an influx of donations to local charities and neighbourhood centres,” the spokesperson said.
“Please check in with these groups before dropping off donated goods.
“Please do not take donations to evacuation centres.”
Multiple fire warnings remain in place across the WDRC area, several roads are closed and a total fire ban remains in place.
