A Brooklands man charged over the death of a jogger near Nanango in September 2022 had several charges mentioned briefly in Nanango Magistrates Court on Monday.

Walter Evan McBryde, 52, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, failing to immediately stop at an incident, failing to remain at the scene, and showing callous disregard for the needs of an injured person.

Bryce Williams, 33, was struck by a passing vehicle on Nanango-Brooklands Road, near Oliver Road, about 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 6.

The Mt Coolum father-of-two had travelled to Nanango for work at the time of his death.

His body was found by members of the public.

McBryde was issued with a notice to appear in court on February 17.

He has since been committed to face trial in the District Court in Kingaroy, at a date to be fixed, on the dangerous operation charge.

The hearing of the other charges was adjourned on Monday to September 16, 2024.

No pleas have been entered.

McBryde is currently on bail.
