Fire crews were called to the historic pub, in Kingaroy Street, just before 3:00pm.
At the height of the blaze five crews were involved, including trucks from Nanango as well as Kingaroy.
QAS paramedics were on standby, and police had the street blocked off.
The QFES spokesperson said the building had been searched and firefighters had confirmed there was no one inside.
Smoke billowed from the building as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.
Several small walls of an annex at the rear of the main building collapsed as firefighters, wearing breathing gear, worked to smother the flames with their hoses.
At 3:35pm, the QFES spokesperson confirmed the blaze had been extinguished but fire crews remained on scene to ventilate the building and remove smoke.
