The Timbertowns Sporting and Community Hub is asking residents for feedback about sporting activities and facilities in Blackbutt and Benarkin

September 19, 2023

Blackbutt and Benarkin residents have been asked to provide feedback on local sporting activities to help develop a 10-year “strategic sports plan” for the towns.

The online survey has been prepared by the Timbertowns Sporting and Community Hub (TSCH) which took over responsibility for the upkeep of Ian “Bunny” Pearce Oval in 2020.

This followed the trashing of the clubhouse at the oval, and the community response to repair the facility.

TSCH secretary Linda Little said the group had a keen team of volunteers and had been running a social touch football competition to help raise funds.

The TSCH was now developing the 10-year plan to help grow the Blackbutt and Benarkin sporting community.

It hopes to develop strategies to enhance sports participation and community engagement as well as improve infrastructure.

The TSCH is also seeking feedback on accessibility issues with current sports facilities, and whether there are any specific events, workshops or initiatives that residents would like to see organised.

The survey can be completed online
