South Burnett Regional Council has renewed its contract with JJ’s Waste & Recycling for 10 years.
The new contract will begin on July 1 next year after the current contract expires.
A Council spokesperson said tenders were invited on March 21 with submissions closing on May 11.
The spokesperson said the new contract would save about $1.89 million over the 10 years, compared with the current contract costs estimated for the same period.
There would also be emissions savings for new collection vehicles compared with the existing vehicle fleet.
The contract also has the flexibility to alter the size and frequency of collections and include potential new services (eg. food organic, green organic).
