Nanango Theatre’s Company’s latest short season of one-act plays wrapped up at the weekend, but the group doesn’t have time to rest on its laurels!
They will be hosting a huge one-act play festival, the 2023 Heritage NananGO PLAYfest, at the Nanango Cultural Centre from September 1-3.
NananGO PLAYfest is part of the South East Queensland Drama Festival Circuit.
There will be five sessions over three days, and tickets have already gone on sale for this popular event.
Theatre groups from across south-east Queensland have been invited to bring along their best one-act plays to wow audiences and compete for great prizes.
“Thanks to the wonderful support of the Nanango Heritage Bank, we can again offer (what we think is) Australia’s best prize money for such a competition, and we look forward to growing this festival as a pillar of the local cultural calendar,” PLAYfest convenor Jon Fearnley said.
Jon said earlybird ticket sales were already nearly matching last year’s total sales for the event.
“We’re excited with how the region is getting behind this smorgasbord of live theatre for our local audiences,” Jon said.
The inaugural event was to be held in 2021, but was cancelled at the last minute due to COVID lockdowns.
However, the 2022 event – which served up 12 one-act plays – was hailed as a great success.
