Two local projects will receive almost $580,000 for disaster preparedness under Round 1 of the Federal Government’s new Disaster Ready Fund.

The two projects to be funded are:

  • Cherbourg – Cherbourg Disaster Early Warning System – $289,941 grant (total project cost)
  • South Burnett – Building Resilience in the Agricultural South Burnett – $288,500 grant (total project cost $580,020)

The two projects were among 50 across Queensland announced on Wednesday.

With co-contributions from the State Government or other project partners, the combined investment across the State will be worth more than $150 million.

State and Territory governments submitted applications for a range of projects to improve mitigation and resilience, in collaboration with local Councils and community groups.

More than 300 applications were submitted.

Successful projects were selected following a merit-based assessment process undertaken by the National Emergency Management Agency .
