A strong finish by the South Burnett Thrashers ensured victory on Saturday in their fourth game in a row away on the road.

The team was in action against the Water Rats at Warwick.

“The first half was very tight with Mowen Boino and Josaia Droka running in tries to take a 12-5 lead at half-time,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.

“The team was determined to end the game strong after the last few rounds, taking the win 36-5.

“The work at training is paying off with Thrashers keeping Warwick from scoring in the second half.”

The Thrashers, who are playing in the Darling Downs Rugby Union’s B Grade competition, will be hosting the action at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy this weekend.

“The team is very excited to be playing at home,” Jamie said.

“It will be a big day for the club as we will be hosting an A grade game as well.”

Jamie said it will be a tough game for the Thrashers, as they will be taking on the Goondiwindi Emus who are in second position on the ladder and have not been beaten this season.

The South Burnett Thrashers v Emus game will kick off at 1:30pm.

The A Grade game between the Emus and the USQ Saints will start at 3:00pm.

There will be a bar and barbecue at the game, but there will be no EFTPOS facilities.
