Four free workshops for farmers will be held in the South Burnett over the next few weeks, hosted by the South Burnett Regional Council and BIEDO.

Three workshops will be led by John McLaughlin from Upscale Carbon, a business which helps landholders implement regenerative environmental practices to boost income.

The fourth will update landholders about the Northern Australian Climate Program (NACP).

The two-hour workshops will be held at:

  • April 13 – “Get The Facts On Carbon” at Nanango RSL Club from 11:00am
  • April 27 – “Get The Facts On Carbon” from 9:30am at Durong Hall followed by the NACP Climate Update from 1:00pm
  • May 11 – “Get The Facts On Carbon” at Murgon Town Hall from 9:30am

Lunch will be included.

“Every day, our agricultural sector is significantly affected by the weather and government policy,” BIEDO general manager Kristy Board said.

“These workshops provide valuable information to help make informed decisions with the best agricultural, scientific, environmental and financial management information the sector has available, from experts who can be contacted for further advice.”

BIEDO agriculture officer Alan Broome said the workshops would be the first of many BIEDO would be partnering with the SBRC to deliver this year for the agriculture sector.

“We are funded from the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, a recognition of the hardship the agricultural sector has experienced from floods over the past three years,” Mr Broome said.

The workshops are free but bookings should be made online or by phoning 0400-695-456.
