Wondai Wolves hosted – and dominated – the Wide Bay Female Nines rugby league carnival last Saturday.
Three sides competed in a round-robin competition at Wondai Sportsground which ended with a Grand Final played under lights.
Wondai, Cherbourg and Fraser Coast fielded teams of nine players which played two nine-minute halves.
The Wolves cruised through their games undefeated.
Unfortunately, Cherbourg had to pull out of the semi-final when they could not field a team due to injuries.
Injuries also marred two other games, including the final, which were called off early when players were injured.
Results:
- Game 1 – Wondai 28 def. Cherbourg 12
- Game 2 – Wondai 12 def. Fraser Coast 4 (game called early due to injury)
- Game 3 – Fraser Coast 12 def. Cherbourg 4
- Game 4 – Wondai 32 def. Cherbourg 0
- Game 5 – Wondai 10 def. Fraser Coast 6
- Semi-Final – Cherbourg defaulted due to injury
- Grand Final – Wondai 8 def. Fraser Coast 4 (game called at half-time due to injury)
