2023 Murgon Miss Showgirl Amy Henderson and Rural Ambassador Patrick Noakes have a busy weekend ahead of them

March 17, 2023

Visitors to the 99th Murgon Show this weekend will get the opportunity to admire all the upgrades that have happened at the showgrounds in recent weeks.

There’s been demolition of old sheds, the creation of new a cattle washdown area, new ramps and gates.

Volunteers have been working hard to make sure the grounds are in top condition for all this weekend’s action.

The fun began on Friday night with cane toad races and hay stacking competitions as well as the more serious judging of the Young Paraders and Young Judges competitions.

However, the main day of the Show is Saturday, with events happening in four arenas and inside the PCYC Pavilion.

Gates open at 7:00am with the first ring events kicking off at 8:00am.

A free “train” will help visitors get around the large showgrounds area.

All the usual Show events will be happening: a dog show, ute muster, poultry show, equestrian events and stud and prime cattle judging.

But this year there’ll also be a fashion parade, the Australian Army Pep Band will be performing and there’ll be dog high jumps and motorbike challenges (see Program, below).

Fireworks will top off a big day at 7:00pm.

And the Show Society’s hard work won’t be over after this weekend … the volunteers have to quickly gear up again for the Murgon Daytime Rodeo which will be held at the Murgon Showgrounds on Sunday, April 2.
