Is the Blackbutt Police Station safe for the staff who work there? Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington doesn’t think so.
The MP has asked a Question on Notice in State Parliament about the building, claiming the police officers stationed there have unsafe working conditions.
Mrs Frecklington said she had visited the police station recently and had seen firsthand the difficult work conditions experienced by the staff.
“The building itself is decrepit, tiny and no longer fit-for-purpose,” Mrs Frecklington said.
“Most importantly, it is not safe for the police officers who must often share their workspace with the same people they may have just detained.
“The building is not functional and has severe limitations for the four officers who are now permanently stationed at Blackbutt.
“I’ve asked a Question on Notice to the Police Minister seeking answers about whether there are any plans to build a new police station.
“The community value the service provided by their local officers and it is time a new station was built in Blackbutt.”
