Cherbourg Council hosted a visit on Wednesday by representatives from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) to inspect work completed after the 2013 floods.

“There’s more work that can be done and we’re certainly looking at opportunities for that,” acting QRA CEO Jimmy Scott told Cherbourg Radio.

Mr Scott inspected Cherbourg’s sewage treatment ponds, accompanied by Councillors and Council staff.

He said there was the potential for restoration or possibly betterment works at this site.

“We’re very keen to work with Council on what those options might be,” Mr Scott said.

He said the QRA valued the strong relationship it has with Cherbourg Council.

“We really applaud the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and also the CEO and Council staff for the way that they have engaged with us over the prior years,” Mr Scott said.
