Former Powerlink director Sarah Zeljko has been appointed as the new chair of Energy Queensland, the State Government corporation formed from the merger of Ergon Energy and Energex.

Energy Queensland provides network electricity services to all of Queensland, and retail services to regional Queensland.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Ms Zeljko’s experience across both private and public sectors and her roles in community groups make her an ideal person to lead Energy Queensland.

Ms Zeljko has previously held professional non-executive director and Board roles for Energy Super, Millovate, Stockyard Beef, LogiCamms and Unitywater.

She was previously companysecretary for G8 Education, the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal and Cement Australia.

Outgoing chair Phil Garling has been heading Energy Queensland since the merger in 2016.

One Response to "New Chair At Energy Qld"

  1. We had a text message from Ergon saying our meter was to be read on Thursday so we locked the dogs up on the deck for the day and I stopped home all day waiting.

Not knowing if the meter had been read, we received another text message saying it was to be read on Friday. I again stopped home all day waiting for it to be read.

Again we assumed it had been read on Friday but alas we received another text this morning to say that they will be here today, Monday. I waited until 1:30pm and when no one had arrived, I sat on the phone for nearly an hour waiting to be answered. The Ergon representative told me to do a self read. I said that in the past when we did this they would not pay the rebate on solar.

He said we would give it another go and I gave him the numbers.

It costs everyone $89:31 every three months to have their meter read and this is what happens. God, we need another electricity entity in the North.

Fourth message received this afternoon. They are coming tomorrow. 4th day.

It is 1:19pm on the fourth day and nobody has arrived to read the meter.
