A new park has begun to take shape on old railway land behind the Murgon council building in Gore Street.
The land is being developed as a Veterans’ Memorial Park by the Murgon RSL Sub-Branch to provide the community with a quiet space to reflect and honour veterans who have served after World War II.
Work will proceed over the next eight weeks to transform the area.
RSL Wide Bay and Burnett District president Trevor Williamson OAM said he was pleased to see the work begin.
The creation of the park has been made possible with funding received from a number of programs, including the State Government’s 2022 Queensland Remembers grant program, and the Federal Government’s Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee and Saluting Their Service programs.
