A recent junior cricket coaching clinic held at Alan Downie Sports Fields, in Nanango, gave local juniors the opportunity to learn from top coach Vic Williams.

Vic has spent the past three decades dedicating his career to improving cricketers across both country and city Queensland.

He was a Queensland Cricket Development Officer before moving into Queensland youth teams, the Queensland Fire and the Brisbane Heat.

Currently, Vic is the coach at the Sandgate-Redcliffe club.

Nanango Scorpions vice-president Brett Burrows was integral to bringing Vic to Nanango over the past few seasons.

“Nanango Scorpions wanted to bring a highly credential coach to the South Burnett region to ensure our local juniors and junior coaches can improve their skills and game development,” Brett said.

“It is expensive for country players and families to travel to the city for coaching so it is great that Vic can travel to our players.”

The clinic ran all day with skill improvement in the morning and game-based sessions after lunch.

Participants were predominantly South Burnett cricketers however families also travelled from Childers and North Brisbane.

The coaching clinic was supported by Powerlink Queensland through their Community Small Grants Program.
