FLASHBACK: A 2021 proposal by the SBRC to plant trees in Youngman Street, Kingaroy

South Burnett Regional Council is seeking nominations from community members to join a Botanical Advisory Committee.

A spokesperson said Council was setting up the committee “to ensure the South Burnett region is a highly regarded industry leader in botanical and horticultural excellence”.

The objectives for the Advisory Committee are:

  • To review and advise Council on master planning of parks, town entrances, open spaces and recreation facilities; and
  • To review and advise Council on botanical and horticultural outcomes in parks, gardens and streetscapes including species selection.

A key aim of the committee will be to ensure that plants appropriate to the region are used as much as possible in public spaces.

Membership of the Committee will consist of councillors, Council staff and community members based on knowledge and expertise.
