A truck driver died after a crash involving two trucks on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Wivenhoe Hill on Friday morning.
A police spokesperson said preliminary investigations indicated that about 8:00am a small pantech truck was travelling southbound on the Brisbane Valley Highway when a collision occurred at a roadworks site with a stationary loaded gravel truck with dog trailer attached.
The driver of the pantech, a 64-year-old Park Ridge man, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the gravel truck, who rendered immediate assistance to the man, was not physically injured.
Forensic Crash Investigators will prepare a report for the Coroner.
They are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam footage capturing the moments leading up to and including the crash, to come forward.
The highway was blocked between Esk and Fernvale with diversions put in place via Coominya Connection Road (northbound) or Wivenhoe Somerset Road (southbound).
