An inquest will be held in Brisbane in September to examine the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of former Cherbourg woman Constance Watcho, 36.

Ms Watcho was reported missing by family members in November 2017.

Her body was later located stuffed into an Urban Style duffle bag at the base of the Kangaroo Point cliffs in Brisbane on September 10, 2018.

In 2019, a $250,000 reward was announced by police in a bid to solve the mystery.

The Deputy State Coroner will now examine the circumstances of her death.

A preliminary hearing, held in Brisbane on Tuesday, heard Ms Watcho had just been released from jail and was “couch surfing” when she went missing.

Her partner allegedly told police he had not immediately reported her disappearance because it was not unusual for her to return to Cherbourg without telling him.

The inquest is expected to last five days.
