Registrations are now open for the South Burnett Housing and Homelessness Forum which will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall next month.

The forum, which is seeking community input to find workable solutions to homelessness in the region, will be held on Friday, July 22, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

The theme is “We Are All In This Together”.

It is a free event but organisers need to register attendees for catering purposes.

The forum will be led by key agencies including South Burnett CTC, South Burnett Regional Council, Q Shelter, Regional Housing Limited and the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

One of the headline presenters will be Michael Fotheringham who is a member of a number of advisory panels including the Federal Government’s Smart Cities Reference Group, the Housing Supply Expert Panel, the Queensland Housing and Homelessness Research Alliance, the Urban Futures and Sustainable Living Expert Research Advisory Group, and the Homes for Homes Housing Advisory Group.

Cr Danita Potter called on local decision makers, concerned residents and businesspeople to support the forum.

“This is a very worthwhile event that reflects a community-driven approach to tackle homelessness,” Cr Potter said.

“The South Burnett needs short-term, medium-term, and long-term solutions to the housing crisis on our doorstep.

“This forum is an opportunity for everyone to come together so we can walk away with some answers to this pressing community problem.”

Cr Kirstie Schumacher said the South Burnett Regional Council had supported the forum from the outset.

“We are determined to find a local way through the challenges facing families under housing stress,” she said.

Registrations can be made online
