Toowoomba Regional Council has moved applications for its community support grants online.

Council has teamed up with the SmartyGrants software platform for the next round of grants which open on July 1.

Cr James O’Shea said the online process would allow Council to streamline how it managed its grants program while also providing users with one spot to to access multiple grants.

“This move to an online system has been designed to give our community groups a better user experience,” Cr O’Shea said.

“The entire application process – from start to finish, as well as contact from Council’s grants team during the review, funding agreement and acquittal stage – will occur from within the one platform.

“SmartyGrants offers many advantages to residents, including the ability to attach required documents when submitting the application. Users will also no longer need to drop off their application in person or via the postal system.

“SmartyGrants is preferred by many organisations or agencies which administer grant funding and once you’ve set up an account, it will become much easier to apply for future rounds of funding.

“The new electronic application forms will still be found under the existing ‘grants and funding’ heading on Council’s website

“We realise this is a change for our community groups, however, we want to make this process as smooth as possible for our residents which is why Council is willing to meet with community groups and organisations to provide a simple overview of the system.

“Those new to SmartyGrants are required to establish a username and password before they can commence an application, and Council staff are happy to assist new users with this step.”
