The creek crossing between Murgon and Goomeri on the South Burnett Rail Trail is currently closed (Map: SBRC)

June 8, 2022

South Burnett Regional Council has advised that the rail trail between Murgon and Goomeri has been temporarily closed at the creek crossing.

The closure follows the recent rainfall and the continuous water flow from surrounding areas.

Cyclists and walkers wanting to access the Moffatdale Wine Trail can use the highway access road and old highway to the Kilcoy-Murgon Road intersection (NB. take care crossing the highway as it is a 100km/h zone).

Alternative paths to Goomeri can be accessed 300m beyond the creek crossing following the old highway.

An alternative route to the wine trail is via Borcherts Hill Road to Murgon-Barambah Road.

Council advises the public to dismount bicycles and take caution on the rail trail due to water across the trail and uneven surfaces.
