Local tourism organisation Visit South Burnett (VSB) has launched its official website to promote the region, just in time for the peak winter tourism season.

VSB tourism development officer Melanie Eastaugh said the project has been a major undertaking for the group and was several months in the making, but the combined efforts of the region’s tourism operators and hundreds of hours of work were all about to pay off.

“The whole Visit South Burnett community is very proud to launch this website,” Mrs Eastaugh said.

“It is going to be a fundamental tool to successfully market and showcase the South Burnett as a must-see tourism experience.

“The really exciting part is that this launch is just our starting platform.

“We are looking forward to all of our members contributing to the website and sending in their information, specials and packages as well as upcoming events so that we can get these out in a timely manner to a wide range of demographics who want to visit our beautiful region.”

Mrs Eastaugh said she wanted to stress how vital it was for all tourism businesses and destinations to share their information with Visit South Burnett in order for the website to achieve its sole purpose: to promote everything the region has to offer.

“It’s integral that everyone in the local tourism scene keeps us up-to-date on what is happening around the region so that we can share this with tourists from all over the world,” she said.

“We can’t sell a secret, so send us an email and let us help showcase why the South Burnett is the perfect place to stay another day.”

Visit South Burnett was also pleased to host journalists and judges from Gourmet Traveller Magazine recently.

Their visit to the region was a famil that will culminate in an article in the prestigious magazine.

The visit was also part of the magazine’s annual Australia’s Best Cellar Door Awards.

Visit South Burnett president and wine industry representative Jason Kinsella said he was very pleased with the results.

“The quality of wineries in the South Burnett is the envy of many regions and the awards certainly reflect this,” he said.

“The itinerary was developed by Visit South Burnett, so the judges also got to see the best of the region’s gourmet food offerings and regional highlights.

“The judges said they were very impressed with the standard of food, wine and accommodation in the South Burnett, and they were also quite impressed with the use and passion for regional produce.”

The article will appear in the latest edition of the Gourmet Traveller magazine.
