MBDA treasurer Lorraine Goodchild

The Murgon Business and Development Association is testing an after-hours “meet and greet” concept which seems to have proven popular with the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Last year, we tried holding evening meetings for business operators (“Business After Hours”) to see if that time was more suited – rather than the breakfast meetings – to encourage more of our business members to come along to our meetings,” treasurer Lorraine Goodchild said.

“Disappointingly, it still seemed to be mainly the same people turning up to them as were coming along to the breakfast meetings.

“So now, we are going to trial some ‘Meet and Greet’ evenings at various local venues or businesses.

“These will be held every 2-3 months for the remainder of this year to see how that goes.

“These will be a more casual informal setting (not a formal meeting) but it will still be a chance to get together with fellow business operators and hear about the latest happenings at each location, while enjoying a drink and nibbles or a sausage sizzle.”

The Murgon Men’s Shed will be hosting the first of these new Meet and Greet evenings on Wednesday, June 15.

“So come along, take a look around and hear all about their plans for a Railway Museum,” Lorraine said.

“These occasions are open to all business operators, not just MBDA members, so please encourage others to come along.”

Entry will be via gold coin donation.

The MBDA’s regular breakfast meetings will continue every month.
