FLASHBACK: Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt in 2019 … the last time BaconFest was able to go ahead

May 13, 2022

Tickets for events at the 2022 Kingaroy BaconFest will go on sale at 1:00pm on Monday, May 23.

Chief Baconeer Kristy Board said there would be something for everyone at the festival (August 19-21) which is returning after an enforced two-year layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Whether you’re looking to sip and swig at the Wine and Swine dinner party, be a rasher and walk, run or ride the South Burnett Rail Trail in the Rasher’s Rush or celebrate food provenance with the more relaxed vibe of the intimate Long Table Breakfast; it’s sure to be a ‘pig’ weekend full of bacon, rashers, swine, barbecues, music, local food, more bacon and even more bacon,” Kristy said.

One change this year is that visitors will have to buy a ticket to enter the Festival precinct.

Kristy said the charge – which range from $6 for a one-day general admission ticket to a $25 two-day family pass – has been introduced to help cover the extra costs that come with running a safe and sustainable event.

“Given the challenges experienced by our arts industry over the past few years, we cross our bacon hearts that we will do everything to keep our patrons safe and able to attend this year’s Kingaroy Baconfest,” she said.

“Charging a small entry fee will help ensure that BaconFest can continue putting greasy smiles on happy faces for many years to come.”

The general admission ticket, which can be bought online, will include access to the BaconFest Food Market, the Beer & Wine Garden, SunPork’s Swig and Swine Deck, the SunPork Smoke-Off Barbecue Competition area, the Little Piggies Area for Under 12s and the South Burnett Flavours local produce market.

Admission will also include cooking demonstrations by chefs including The Living Room’s Miguel Maestre; seasonal and local ingredient advocate Matt Golinski; and former My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph from “Travel and Eat with Dan and Steph”.

It will also include the bacon-eating competition, BaconFest Pin-Up Pageant, Beard of BaconFest and Jnr Baconeer competition and live music on the main stage.

The BaconFest festival precinct will be open from 10:00am-11:00pm on Saturday, August 20, and from 10:00am-3:00pm on Sunday, August 21.

Ticketed events will include the “Wine and Swine” event on Friday night which will showcase local wine and produce, and the “Long Table Breakfast” on Sunday morning in Kingaroy’s CBD.
