Residents across the Toowoomba region can expect to receive their water notices from this Friday (May 6) after delays caused by the recent wet weather.

Cr Kerry Shine said while the water notices were being issued slightly later than usual, they were still being issued within Council’s adopted schedule ie. October/November and April/May as detailed in Council’s budget.

“TRC uses four water meter readers to read all 65,000 water meters across the region twice annually,” Cr Shine said.

“This most recent period was impacted by the significant rainfall and flooding issues from October 2021 until March 2022, with some areas inaccessible for a period of time and many water meter boxes filling up with water and soil debris at various stages.

“These impacts made the water meter reading process slower than usual but in a proactive step, TRC used additional staff resources from within Council to complete the water meter readings in a reasonable timeframe.”

Payments are due by June 7.
