Agents yarded 500 head for the fortnightly Fat And Store sale at Murgon on Tuesday (May 3).

Values for most descriptions remained firm, with export cattle showing some improvement in places.

There were too few bullocks on offer at the latest sale to quote prices, and only a few weaner heifers.

Cattle for the sale were drawn from Nanango, Mondure, Goomeri, Proston and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Heavy cows over 600kg sold to $3.85/kg and $2759
  • Cows 500-600kg topped at $3.70/kg and $2195
  • Cows under 400kg topped at $3.40/kg
  • Bulls sold to $3.59/kg, returning $3681
  • 400kg feeder steers sold to $5.44/kg and $2180
  • 225kg weaner steers sold to $7.14/kg and $1620.
  • Feeder heifers sold to $4.60/kg and $2185
  • There were few weaner heifers, but those on offer achieved $6.06/kg, returning $1450
  • 716kg Red Angus X cows ex-Nanango made $3.85/kg and $2759
  • 1025kg Brangus bulls ex-Mondure made $3.59/kg and $3682
  • 570kg Charbray bullocks ex-Nanango sold at $4.58/kg, returning $2612
  • 400kg Charbray X feeder steers from the local area made $5.44/kg and $2177
  • 226kg Charbray weaner steers ex-Goomeri made $7.14/kg, returning $1620
  • 475kg Charbray feeder heifers ex-Goomeri made $4.60/kg and $2185
  • 238kg Angus weaner heifers ex-Proston made $6.06/kg and $1444
  • Droughtmaster PTIC cows from the Murgon area made $2880
  • Brahman cows and calves ex-Proston made $2850
