The South Burnett Thrashers are sitting at the top of the Darling Downs rugby union competition ladder after a thrilling 31-12 win over Gatton on Saturday.
The team, which only returned to the competition this year, have now notched up two wins from two games in the C Grade competition.
The Thrashers travelled to Warwick to take on the Black Pigs in the Round 3 game.
The team had not played since April 9 due to Easter and their Round 2 bye.
“This meant the boys were a bit slow to get started but an early long-distance try by Mowen Boino got the Thrashers into the game,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.
“There is still some room for improvement but the team looked really good when they were able to get a clean ball from the ruck.”
Try scorers were Mowen Boino, Malaki Malaki, Sata Tale, Apisalome Waqatabu and Marcus Jensen.
Jensen kicked two conversions and Malaki kicked one.
The Thrashers’ next match will be against the Chinchilla River Rats on Saturday at USQ Oval in Toowoomba.
