Four fire crews were called after reports a house was on fire in Palmer Street, Murgon, on Thursday afternoon.

A QFES spokesperson said smoke was issuing from the building when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Police, ambulance and Ergon crews also attended.

Two firies, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the home to investigate the smoke.

They discovered a fire in the kitchen which was brought under control within 12 minutes.

Firefighters then checked the building for any remaining hot spots.

At 3:40pm, the building was declared safe.

The extent of the damage to the kitchen is not known.
