A free financial counselling service is available to South Burnett residents who may have problems meeting their bills or paying their rates.
South Burnett mayor Brett Otto said it was important that the South Burnett community were aware of the federally funded help that was available through Regional Housing Limited, located in the South Burnett Enterprise Centre complex in Cornish St, Kingaroy.
“Financial counsellors don’t judge you or take over your finances. But they show you how to manage your situation and reassure you there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Mayor Otto said.
“These counsellors are specially trained to listen, understand and come up with practical ways to help your situation, no matter how dire you may think it is.
“Financial difficulty can happen to anybody and there are ways to help. I am pleased that the South Burnett is home to this important service.
“The best thing about this service is that it is free and confidential.”
Mayor Otto encouraged residents experiencing financial difficulty perhaps as a result of sickness, losing a job or relationship breakdown, to contact the counsellor at Regional Housing Limited on 1300-642-123 or by email
