Agents yarded 1050 for the fortnightly Murgon Fat & Store sale on Tuesday, Fedbruary 8.
The market rose to new levels compared to the last sale, especially weaners.
Cattle weere drawn from Gayndah, Agnes Waters, Cinnabar, Nanango, Proston, and all local areas.
Sale results:
- Heavy bulls made up to $3.98/kg at $3461
- Heavy cows over 500kg reached $4.03/kg, returning $2731
- Cows 400-500kg averaged $3.88/kg
- Cows under 400kg achieved $3.63/kg
- Export heifers sold to $5.01/kg at $2620
- A limited number of bullocks yarded, securing $4.45/kg
- 273kg Braford steers made $8.55/kg, returning $2341
- A line of 100 Braford steers from Gayndah averaged $2131 per head
- Light weight weaner steers from Agnes Waters made $9.12/kg, returning $1531 for 167kg
- Feeder heifers at 475kg made $5.79/kg, returning $2708
- 333kg Charolais heifers from Moffatdale sold at $6.34/kg and $2116
- Light weaner heifers made $8.14/kg to return $1474 for 180kg
- Cows and calves made $4025
- Preg-tested, in calf Brahman cows made $2700
- Simmental X bulls ex-Murgon made $3.98/kg at 835kg, returning $3325
- Charolais X cows ex-Mundubbera made $4.03, returning $2732 for a 678kg beast
- Droughtmaster X cows ex-Murgon made $3.99/kg and $2023 for 507kg
- Droughtmaster X steers ex-Murgon sold for $5.89/kg, mreturning $2394 for 406kg
- Braford steers ex-Gayndah made $8.55/kg, or $2401 for a 281kg specimen
- Braford steers ex-Gayndah made $8.68/kg, returning $2257
- Charbray X steers ex-Agnes Waters made $9.12/kg and $1531
- Angus heifers ex-Murgon made $5.70/kg and $2620
