A man aged in his 40s was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway in the early hours of Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the incident, just north of Ban Ban Springs, at 1:06am.

A QAS spokesperson said the man suffered a significant shoulder and leg injury.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was despatched to the scene just before 2:00am and was able to land on the highway.

He was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

The highway was closed to traffic while emergency services were at the incident.
