The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) – a statutory body which invests farmer levies and Federal funding into research – has moved all its planned grower events online due to COVID.
Interim managing director Cathie Warburton said all events scheduled for February would be online, or if not practical, postponed or cancelled.
Ms Warburton said the GRDC understood the current COVID-19 situation might impact the delivery of project milestones, so it was open to considering COVID-related variations from research partners.
“The protocol for GRDC staff in relation to travel and event attendance will be revised as the situation evolves, but is likely to be in place until the end of February,” she said.
“We recognise the impact COVID-19 is having on Australians and these measures are in place to reduce the risk to our staff, their families and the communities we all live and work in.
“At GRDC, we are committed to our job of investing in high quality research, development and extension on behalf of Australian grain growers and we will continue to extend and communicate RD&E outcomes through multiple platforms during this challenging time.”
