Kingaroy Rotary’s popular ham wheel will be spinning in Memorial Park this year

December 9, 2021

Haly Street has finally reopened for two-way traffic and parking in Kingaroy, but it is too late for the 2021 Kingaroy Christmas Carnival.

The main CBD thoroughfare, which is traditionally a key part of the festival, had been reduced to one-way traffic for weeks as part of necessary underground upgrades as part of the Kingaroy Transformation Project.

The roadway and footpaths between Youngman and Kingaroy streets reopened on Wednesday, however arrangements for Thursday’s Christmas Carnival to be held in Memorial Park were already locked in place.

The free community event will kick off at 4:00pm and run until 9:00pm.

Santa is expected to arrive at 6:30pm.

There will be Christmas market stalls, food, free pony rides, face-painting, music and a jumping castle.

A Council spokesperson said access to George Street and Glendon Street via Haly Street are now also open.

However, some Council workers will be onsite undertaking minor clean up and other ancillary works.

Reduced speed limits still remain on Haly Street, as well as fencing being put in place for works required in early 2022.

Pedestrians should use controlled crossings where possible and give way to traffic until line marking is completed.
